It was one of our first big adventures on our world cruise, and before we'd even arrived, I remember telling a friend, "I just want to touch the dirt. I want to feel African soil in my hands."
I can't quite explain why. I just knew I wanted to feel connected to this incredible part of the world.
And then came our safari.
The first animal we saw was an elephant. A real, wild elephant, right there in front of us!
I remember thinking, if this is the only animal we see today, my bucket is already full.
But then came the lions, giraffes, zebras, rhinos and hippos. One incredible encounter after another. I couldn't stop wondering how anywhere else in the world could possibly top this.
But as extraordinary as those animals were, there was something even deeper about being there.
The warmth of the earth. The rich, earthy colours. The shadows stretching across the hills. The changing sky as the sun began to set, and the quiet beauty of animals simply existing in their natural world.
There was something so grounding about it all. As though the landscape itself was wrapping its arms around us.
"Wild Africa" is my way of holding on to that feeling.
The glowing African sun, the warm earthy tones and the colours of the landscape are all inspired by a place that left me feeling incredibly small, yet so connected to the world around me.
A little piece of Africa, brought home through fabric and colour.

As each Wild Africa set is individually created, I'd love to offer you a little choice with the sun.
The original design features a warm, earthy sun that blends beautifully into the surrounding colours. But if you'd prefer your sun to stand out a little more, I can incorporate a brighter golden yellow into the appliqué.
Once you've placed your order, I'll be in touch personally to chat about which look you'd prefer.

Every piece is individually hand-dyed, so colours and patterns will vary slightly from the photographs. That's part of what makes yours unique.

There’s no need for any fancy laundry care with Sewcial Dyes products – Who’s got time for that. All my items have been through a rigorous ‘washing out process’ to ensure they’re colourfast when they land in your hands. They will not run, bleed or fade.
Wash in your usually water temperature with similar colours.
Can be tumble dried | Suitable for ironing.
I never imagined I'd come home with so many memories that would find their way into my fabric.
Every design in this collection holds a little piece of that journey, and it means so much to be able to share it with you.
